Mini’s professional journey was stimulated in the bustling corridors of King Kullen, Inc., in Bethpage, NY, where she honed her skills as a System Analyst from 1994 to 1998. Here, Mini immersed herself in the world of software engineering, tackling everything from requirements gathering to the deployment of custom web applications. Her expertise wasn’t just technical; it was also about making connections, solving problems, and driving projects to their successful completion.
During this time Mini found her true calling when her husband, Harry Sawhney, a true visionary saw the need for IT professionals to help with the upcoming Y2K issues and glitches. He decided to open up a vocational training school to supply IT professionals to the local market with Mini’s help. Harry opened up Access Careers first location in October of 1998 and there has been no going back since then.
Mini continued working at King Kullen during the day and then shared her knowledge of the IT industry by teaching computer programming classes at Access Careers in the evenings and weekends. It was not until 2000 when Harry and Mini opened up their second location in Queens and she became the School Director, a role she embraced with open arms and an open heart. Mini’s leadership transcended conventional boundaries, ensuring compliance with the New York State Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision and fostering an environment where education was both a priority and a passion. 2002 was another landmark year where Access Careers opened up their third location in Brooklyn and again Mini was sent to establish the foundation for operating that location.
In 2007, Mini’s journey brought her back to her Access Careers, Hempstead, NY, where she assumed the mantle of School Director and Chief Administrative Officer. Under her guidance, the school flourished, becoming a beacon of excellence and compliance with various educational standards. Mini’s vision was clear—to create, monitor, and implement policies that not only promoted a safe learning environment but also encouraged continuous improvement among teachers and students.
Mini’s skills are as diverse as her experiences—fluent in English, Punjabi, and Hindi, proficient in MS Office, and unparalleled in her communication abilities. Her accolades include certifications as a Sales Agent for private school agents and a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Designated School Official (DSO), alongside her School Director License.
Mini Sawhney’s story is one of inspiration, a narrative that underscores the power of dedication, leadership, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Her impact on the educational landscape is indelible, leaving a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
